Designed to Exceed Expectations
The end result is a happy patient, who’s life is improved by a successful surgeon.
Optimized for LASIK
The ML7® Microkeratome was designed to eliminate the common issues found with microkeratomes of the past while reducing cost, which allows more of the market to enjoy the life changing effects of LASIK.
Fast, Simple, and Easy
The ML7® makes creating a flap easy. By focusing on patient outcomes and flaws of past microkeratomes, we have made the ML7® better in the following ways:
Ease of Use
The surgeon doesn’t have to come off the Forward pedal to reverse the handpiece off the eye. The system knows when a full pass has been made by the handpiece and automatically reverses the handpiece to the start position.
The ML7® Calibrated LASIK Blade comes in a shuttle that allows the surgeon to insert the blade into the ML7® Head without ever touching the blade. This ensures blade integrity before use and makes it safe and easy to dispose of the used blade.
Safety
Additionally, the ML7® monitors the vacuum pressure and stops all functions if the handpiece loses suction.
Speed
The amount of time the microkeratome is on the eye is 7 seconds from when the vacuum is applied to when the reverse pass is made.
Manufacturing
The precision components are machined using wire EDM, which cuts each surface to very tight tolerances (+/- 5 microns), making our Heads and Vacuum Rings superior in every way.
Materials
A special coating used on the Heads and Vacuum Rings make the components lubricious on the cornea and help maintain the life of the parts.
Fixation
There are four vacuum slits in the Vacuum Ring, which help prevent pseudo-suction. Low vacuum can easily be used for increased patient comfort.
Surgeon Preferences
Temporal, Nasal, or Superior hinges are all options for the surgeon and the comfort of the patient.
Controlled by Advanced Software
MED-LOGICS has made many advancements to microkeratome technology. One of the biggest advancements comes in the ML7® software.
How Does Software Help?
The ML7® provides constant and controlled blade oscillation and advancement, along with constantly monitoring fixation to the eye for safety. Using load compensation, the ML7® produces a planar cornea flap by providing steady speeds throughout the blade pass. Every millisecond, the ML7® reads the resistance caused by the handpiece passing over the eye and adjusts the power delivered to the motors. These micro-adjustments allow for a smoother, planar cut for the best results possible.
Our Calibrated LASIK Blades are accurate to +/- 5 microns. Each blade is visually and dimensionally inspected before being packaged for sterilization. The dimensional inspection is performed with an automated system validated to be accurate and repeatable to under 5 microns, ensuring expected results every time.
High Quality Precision
All critical components are inspected using a very precise coordinate measurement machine that utilize an automated touch probe system in conjunction with Zeiss optics to deliver a part that meets specification.
High Quality Precision
The critical components that create the corneal flap during the procedure are precision machined and dimensionally inspected by our automated metrology system. A highly trained inspector monitors the measurements and completes a visual inspection under a microscope to ensure the highest quality possible.
